Opening Reception: HUMANITY - Paintings by Aleathea Sapp-Jimenez
The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) is pleased to present an exhibit of paintings by Aleathea Sapp-Jimenez. Working with acrylic, paint markers, and other media on canvas, Sapp-Jimenez creates vibrant and evocative portraits of real life and imagined people against colorful and mainly organic backdrops. She encourages viewers to start a conversation while experiencing her work, all intentionally left with no titles. She believes art is her own outlet that permits her to breathe. Her love of flowers and patterns shows as a common thread throughout her paintings. To her the flowers represent a form of metamorphosis that transcends our lives and the patterns are part of the life decisions we make daily. After viewing this exhibit, she hopes you will walk away with the feeling to start your own conversations.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and the artist will be in attendance. During the reception, a special performance will take place in conjunction with the exhibit by poet Dave Arson.
Gallery Three is located on the third floor of South Oxford Space, at 138 South Oxford Street in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn.
Regular exhibit hours are 10am to 5pm daily. Additional viewing hours are easily arranged by calling 718-398-3078. Exhibit runs through December 17, 2017.
