Sephora comes to Brooklyn
One of the nation’s top makeup and beauty retail chains, Sephora, will open its first Brooklyn location this Friday. Located in the historic Brooklyn Municipal Building, the 8,000-square-foot store will feature more than 13,000 products from more than 200 brands, including Sephora’s own collection of makeup, skincare, tools, and accessories.
“The Sephora retail concept is rooted in aesthetics, presenting our clients with the most unique product assortment, store design, and client services,” said a representative for the Sephora Company in a press release. “Sephora was the first beauty retailer to employ the unique open-sell philosophy, allowing clients to shop a myriad of brands and encouraging them to try, test, and play with everything from lip glosses to blushes, skincare to fragrance.”
To celebrate their grand opening, the store will host two days of makeup tutorials, DJs, and giveaways. The festivities will begin at 8am on Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony, where the first 100 clients at the shop will receive Sephora gift cards with mystery values in increments up to $1,000. On Saturday morning, starting at 9am, the store will host the gift card giveaway again as well as workshops on color palettes by Katherine Bernhardt from 11am-3pm and how to make original collaged artwork by artist Hisham Bharoocha from 4pm-8pm.
The store and its celebration are focused on rooting Sephora in the Brooklyn community and representing those who are already here. Original artwork from five Brooklyn-based artists, including Mickalene Thomas and Keegan McHargue, will be on display throughout the store (watch the below video to learn more).
The company is also giving away a tote bag designed specifically for Sephora Brooklyn featuring artwork by illustrator Gary Panter. BK Creatives will be running the DJ set, and Morris Kitchen will be providing snack and coffee to customers, rounding out the collection of Brooklyn businesses and artists.
The new Sephora is located at 210 Joralemon Street. Click here for store hours, though there will be extended hours during the opening weekend celebrations.
