Tech Triangle Internship Program back for spring
November 7, 2013
Drawing on the success of the inaugural Brooklyn Tech Triangle Internship Program this summer, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation and NYC Department of Small Business Services is proud to announce the internship program for spring 2014. College interns with backgrounds in programming, design, advanced manufacturing, and engineering will be placed in tech and creative firms throughout the Brooklyn Tech Triangle.
The program launched in June 2013 to address the growing Brooklyn tech sector’s need for talented web programmers, developers, designers, and engineers. The program provides students with hands-on experience on substantive projects and builds capacity for companies.
If your business is interested in hosting an intern, here’s what you need to know:
- Interns are skilled college students from New York City College of Technology (City Tech) and will be pre-screened and matched to meet business needs.
- Interns are provided at NO COST to your business (they are compensated $15/hour by the program).
- Businesses interested in participating must complete this brief questionnaire and submit to Toryl Hannah by November 18.
This past summer, the program placed 28 City Tech college students with 19 different tech and advanced manufacturing companies, including CommonBond and Ferra Designs. 85% of employers who participated expressed interest in retaining summer interns or hosting new interns in the future, while 90% of interns were interested in future Brooklyn Tech Triangle internship opportunities. Three interns were hired following the conclusion of the program.
