Grove Alley Team announces holiday pop-up market
If you loved any of our Grove Alley events – this year’s Makers Nite and Paint Nite and last year’s Nite Market and Game Nite – you’re not going to want to miss Pop² Brooklyn. This 2-day holiday pop-up market will feature up to 25 Brooklyn-based vendors; DJs; art; food trucks like Mexicue, Mamu Thai Noodle, and Red Hook Lobster Pound; and Brooklyn Brewery beer; and it’s all brought to you by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and Gowanus Nite Market, the team behind our popular Grove Alley events.
The market will take place on Friday, December 12th (4pm to 10pm) and Saturday, December 13th (12pm to 8pm).
JC in NYC and Praxis, the artists who created the elephant heads and feet shown below at our Grove Alley Paint Nite, will be painting multiple full-length murals for the market. Vendors like Film Biz Recycling (which is also a sponsor), Shamanic Stylist, Mynlyn, Sole Rebel Art, Jwhite, Mitch Mallows, Brooklyn Oenology, and more are confirmed to participate.
“As Downtown Brooklyn continues to transform into a 24/7 destination, we are focused on events that enliven the neighborhood during the evening hours, as well as attract new shoppers and diners,” said Tucker Reed, President of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. “Pop² Brooklyn will not only showcase the maker community that is so much a part of the borough’s identity these days, but also introduce Downtown Brooklyn to those who may not have been here in awhile.”
Pop² Brooklyn will be activating a 5,500-square-foot retail space at 200 Livingston Street, a vacant space that backs the residential building, Be@Schermerhorn, which is being donated by Jamestown at virtually no cost.
“We have a long history of supporting local artisans through pop-ups like Jingle, ID Pop-Up Shop, and Artist & Fleas, and believe that local economies are fueled by today’s maker community,” said Michael Phillips, President of Jamestown. “With the continued growth of initiatives like the holiday pop-up market, Downtown Brooklyn is well poised to reach its full potential as a hub for innovation, entertainment, and diverse shopping that attracts locals and visitors alike.”
Brooklyn-based vendors who are interested in participating in the market should send us an email at email@example.com.
To help support the market, our popular holiday trolley will also be back to transport shoppers throughout the district. Click here for the trolley route and schedule.
And be sure to pick up one of our annual Holiday Deals Books at any of our holiday events, featuring discounts to more than 40 neighborhood retailers.
