Have your say! Brooklyn Strand community workshop
October 14, 2015
Based on the turnout at our recent community workshop, which drew more than 75 attendees, we are hosting three additional public workshops to gather community feedback on Phase II of the Brooklyn Strand.
Doors are open to Brooklyn residents interested in participating in voicing ideas about re-envisioning the areas under and along the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway from the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges to Commodore Barry Park – the second phase in the Brooklyn Strand community planning process. We will also consider how to create a unified park network to better connect Downtown Brooklyn and its surrounding neighborhoods.
The first phase of the community-driven vision was presented at a public meeting in March of this year, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams allocated funds toward two of the projects – re-opening the Brooklyn War Memorial and helping to transform Borough Hall Park into an iconic space for all Brooklynites to enjoy.
Workshop I takes place on Tuesday October 20 from 6-7:30pm at Whitman Senior Center, 105 North Portland Ave, Brooklyn; Workshop II takes place Monday, October 26 from 6:30-8pm at Ingersoll Community Center, 177 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn; Workshop III takes place Wednesday October 28, 6:30-8pm at Farragut Community Center, 228 York St, Brooklyn.
