Talib Kweli headlines our Grove Alley Silent Disco
July 16, 2015
Your favorite summer alley party is back and bigger than ever, with Talib Kweli headlining a Silent Disco concept at Grove Alley on Friday, July 31st. From the folks at Gowanus Nite Market that brought you last summer’s Grove Alley Makers Nite and Grove Alley Paint Nite, and the Grove Alley Nite Market and Grove Alley Game Nite the summer before that, you won’t want to miss your chance to choose your own groove at one more great summer party.
Never been to a silent disco? The concept is simple. Talib Kweli and three DJs including DJ Beto, DJ Chela, and DJ Joro Boro will be spinning throughout the night on 3 different music channels. You rent a pair of $5 headphones, courtesy of Quiet Events, and you choose your own dance beat.
Like all our past Grove Alley parties, the Grove Alley Silent Disco is not just about “shakin’ your groove thang.” Work up an appetite dancing and grab some Brooklyn Brewery beer and food truck yum from Kimchi Taco, Sweet Chili, Morris Grilled Cheese, or Coolhaus. Shop goodies from local pop-up retailers, including Antler & Woods and Au Papier. And peruse work from artists, Taezoo Art, and Joohee Park – who will be desinging an interactive art display to enhance the alley vibes. Gowanus E-Waste Warehouse is donating more than 40 old television sets for the project.
The Silent Disco builds upon the success of our previous Grove Alley events and helps enliven the neighborhood during the evening hours, provide entertainment for residents, and attract new folks to the area. Over the past 2 years, the 250-foot-deep alley has welcomed more than 5,000 attendees. Click on flyer below to RSVP.
