Hotel spots for your family’s Brooklyn visit
Ahh… family, you love ‘em, but do you really want them staying with you for their entire visit?
Good thing Downtown Brooklyn’s boom includes the opening of several new hotels.
Each of Downtown Brooklyn’s nine hotels has its own unique character and suite of amenities. Read on to find the best home away from (your) home to put up your holiday guests.
The pioneer in Downtown Brooklyn’s hotel market is also the biggest with nearly 700 rooms. The recently renovated guest rooms and suites feature modern built-in desks, flat-panel TVs, and spa-like bathrooms. Your guests can recharge in one of their lounge spaces after a long day, or go for a swim in the hotel’s 75-foot indoor pool. Located on the Adams Street retail strip that also includes great dining options like Hill Country Barbecue Market and Shake Shack, the hotel is a hop, skip, and a jump away from shopping on the Fulton Mall or a nice stroll down to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
One of the newest hotels to open in Downtown Brooklyn is also the first EVEN™ Hotel in Brooklyn, designed to help guests maintain a healthy lifestyle while traveling. Wellness gurus can keep active with in-room fitness zones for private workouts and eat well by choosing from a selection of healthy food and beverage options, including made-to-order smoothies and Grab ‘n’ Go meals. Rest assured your guests will rest easy with spa-inspired showers, signature EO bath products, and all-natural linens.
Another hotel to open its doors in 2016, the 174-room Dazzler Brooklyn, is a sophisticated spot bringing historic touches of classic Brooklyn together with a modern aesthetic throughout. Tell your guests not to miss the lovely rooftop beer garden that’s a perfect place to grab drinks or a bite to eat.
Also opened in 2016 is the new Holiday Inn located on Schermerhorn Street, just around the corner from all the great offerings of Downtown Brooklyn’s cultural institutions and the Barclays Center. Featuring nearly 250 rooms, the hotel also boasts a pool and a beautiful ground-floor restaurant, Brasserie Seoul, inspired by French technique and Korean flavor.
Three hotels are nestled on Duffield Street, right off the Fulton Mall, making it Downtown’s de facto Hotel Row. The newest to the group is the Hotel Indigo, a contemporary, upscale boutique where every room is equipped with plush bedding, spa-style bathrooms, and free Wi-Fi. Other amenities include a casual brewhouse on the ground floor, a fitness room, business center, and meeting room.
Say hello to Aloft New York Brooklyn, yet another of the hotels on Duffield Street. This one offers a twist on travel with loft-inspired spaces – their signature platform bed with plush bedding will give your guests a great night’s sleep. The Aloft also boasts one of the best rooftop dining views in the neighborhood – the Kimoto Rooftop – featuring Asian cuisine and stunning views.
Rounding out the hotels on Duffield Street is the Sheraton Brooklyn, right next door to the Aloft. This spot features more than 300 rooms, and your guests can upgrade their stay to include continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres.
All of the Hampton Inn’s 117 rooms include free Wi-Fi and custom-designed beds, plus standard work desks, flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers. Those with a busy stay planned will appreciate the daily breakfast and weekday breakfast bags to go. Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, bar, and 24-hour pantry store. A second phase of the hotel is currently in construction right next door, which will mean even more options for your guests the next time they visit.
