The latest in Downtown Brooklyn affordable housing

April 29, 2016

2016 is a huge year for affordable housing opportunities here in Downtown Brooklyn with five properties set to launch available units into the affordable housing lottery before the end of the year.

The two current opportunities are Pacific Park’s 461 Dean, and the BAM South Tower at 286 Ashland Place.

The lottery for 461 Dean is now open, with 181 affordable housing units available in the building located right where Dean Street meets Flatbush Avenue. This 32-story building has a bird’s eye view of Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Cultural District and Downtown Brooklyn. Residents of Community Boards 2, 3, 6 and 8 are given preference – that includes Downtown Brooklyn residents! See workshop details below.

While Two Trees hasn’t announced when the BAM South site will enter into the affordable housing lottery just yet, they have opened up workshops on how to apply. There are 76 affordable units in this 32-story property set in the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District with neighbors like Theatre For a New Audience, BAM, Mark Morris Dance Center and the Barclays Center at a two-minute walk from home.

Attend these workshops below to find out about the buildings, the neighborhood and specific details about the affordable housing application process, and stay tuned for affordable housing opportunities at The Hub (333 Schermerhorn), BAM North (Ashland Place and Fulton Street), and 300 Livingston Street, all slated to open in 2016 as well.  For more information or to apply for affordable housing, visit the Housing Connect website.
