Downtown Brooklyn had one last hoorah before school starts at DBP’s Back to School Bash last Saturday. The neighborhood came out to enjoy fun activities such as hop scotch, hula hooping, face painting, chess, hacky sack, and bubble making. Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble Batalá NY and London export, At Your Beat, also made appearances, entertaining Brooklynites with lively choreography and captivating performances!
Batala NY wowed the crowd with their powerful drum rhythms and thunderous beats. Playing music from northeast Brazil, the Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble had the whole neighborhood dancing on their feet!
One of City Point’s newest additions, At Your Beat, entertained everyone with their energetic dance fitness class, FitBeat. People of all ages joined in to dance with London’s very best. You can sign up for their classes here.
Children and adults alike hula hooped, had their faces painted, jumped rope, played hacky sack, and more!
DBP’s photo booth had people posing with fun Back to School props and our very own Instagram cutout!
Families and neighbors of all ages enjoy friendly games of chess all along the square.
