Brooklynites of all ages enjoyed a very sunny day at the beach on Saturday – right in the center of Downtown! Downtown Brooklyn Presents continued with a Pop-up Beach BK Block party at Albee Square, featuring sand art, Jamaican patties, badminton, giant flamingos, beach chairs, and plenty of sunshine. To top it off, acclaimed reggae band, Meta and the Cornerstones, performed a set that ensured only good vibes were felt by all.
Our musical act, acclaimed reggae band Meta and the Cornerstones, got people moving and grooving with fresh reggae jams. Hot off their European tour, the band captivated the crowd and set the beachy mood.
Sand art kept youngsters (and many adults!) busy with a timeless activity – all the fun of sand, with none of the mess!
Our snazzy new umbrellas provided plenty of shade for humans and inflatable flamingos alike.
The NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection brought out their popular water station to make sure everyone stayed hydrated, which was very well received.
Downtown Brooklyn Presents offers free events all year long, including fitness classes, salsa dancing, outdoor movies, meditation, ping pong, live music, and more! Keep an eye on our website for all of the details, and sign up for our newsletter for a fail-safe way of staying informed.
