FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(BROOKLYN) – Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP), BAM, and Two Trees Management Co. announced today an outdoor movies series happening every Tuesday evening in August at The Plaza at 300 Ashland, the expansive new public plaza at the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District.
Each film featured in That’s Entertainment! will offer viewers a peek behind the showbiz curtain. These four films, curated by BAMcinématek, follow love and laughter in 1920’s Hollywood, struggling actors trying to break into the film industry, a cartoon rabbit in WAY over his head, and teenagers looking for fame.
“What better way to celebrate summer than with outdoor movies? We invite Brooklynites to join us for this fun summer series and get to know the great new plaza, Downtown Brooklyn’s newest public space,” said Downtown Brooklyn President Regina Myer.
“We are thrilled that our neighbors from the Brooklyn Cultural District, BAMcinématek, are collaborating with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership to bring this fabulous film series to The Plaza at 300 Ashland,” said Two Trees Cultural Affairs Director Kate Gavriel.
That’s Entertainment! is a part of Downtown Brooklyn Presents at The Plaza @ 300 Ashland, a series of events which will include not only film but also concerts, theater performances, dance & fitness classes, poetry readings, community gatherings, and more. For this inaugural season, DBP has partnered with premier local organizations such as Mark Morris Dance Group, Brooklyn Public Library, TFANA, BRIC Arts Media, and BAM, to offer free, high-quality cultural programming, as well as a range of fitness and recreation classes with Chelsea Piers Fitness Brooklyn. The expansive plaza sits at the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District, adjacent to brownstone Brooklyn neighborhoods of Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, and Park Slope.
