SUMMARY:Jazz Ain't Boring
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Ain’t Boring is a live music experience that explores how jazz continues to shape modern sound and dance culture. Blending DJ sets with live band performance\, the program moves fluidly between classic jazz recordings\, contemporary interpretations\, and the hip-hop\, house\, and soul records they inspired. \nThroughout the evening\, DJs and musicians trade energy—moving from Miles Davis\, John Coltrane\, and Lou Donaldson into the records that sampled them\, from A Tribe Called Quest and Wu-Tang Clan to Mary J. Blige\, Kanye West\, and beyond. \nThe result is a dynamic listening and dance-floor experience that treats jazz not as museum music\, but as a living foundation for groove\, rhythm\, and celebration. \nCurated and hosted by #SampleSaleMusic members DJ Dottie Womack\, Reg Wyns\, Tai Allen\, Emanuel Ruffler\, and Ian Forde\, the program highlights jazz’s enduring influence while inviting the audience to move\, listen\, and connect across generations of sound.

SUMMARY:Caroline Davis // Matt Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:A double bill of two solo sets incorporating improvisation: saxophonist Caroline Davis\, on saxophone and electronics\, and a completely improvised performance by pianist Matt Mitchell. \nCaroline Davis performs solo\, taking a creative approach to the nexus between saxophone and electronics. Pieces for Caroline’cs performance will include the following selections and will be decided upon spontaneously\, given the atmosphere of the room and the people present. Following the Obliquity Records releases of his critically lauded and completely improvised solo piano albums Illimitable and Sacrosanctity\, Mitchell will play a completely improvised\, spontaneous performance on solo piano. \nA livestream will be available free of charge at 8pm on the day of the performance and archived for future viewing.

SUMMARY:The Met in HD: El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season comes to a close with a live transmission of American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera\, a magical-realist portrait of Mexican painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera\, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. A reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth\, the story depicts Frida\, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard\, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego\, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love\, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell.
