SUMMARY:Teatro La Plaza's Hamlet
DESCRIPTION:“★★★★★ Brilliant …This infectiously exuberant production serves as a reminder that Shakespeare is accessible to all\, and Hamlet is for everyone” The Telegraph \n“A performance like none I’ve ever witnessed during my 30-plus years of writing about entertainment and arts and culture … the complete definition of theatre for the mind\, spirit\, soul and imagination … The troupe delivers an all-encompassing crossover narrative that penetrates the heart.” The Chicago Tribune \n“★★★★★ “The ferocious\, left‑field freshness of its approach… shaken up\, translated\, fragmented\, relived and reconstructed in spectacular style … offering a non‑stop feast of new insights … the show still ends with an exhilarated audience leaping up to dance onstage with the company; thrilled by the joy\, the irreverence\, the profound insight\, and the deep sense of human solidarity”  The Scotsman \nIn this brilliant\, funny\, and moving adaptation\, Peruvian director Chela De Ferrari intertwines the text of Shakespeare’s Hamlet with the lived experiences of a young ensemble of eight actors with Down syndrome. With wry humor\, playful energy\, pop music\, and pointed critique\, the performers confront the play’s timeless themes—grief\, revenge\, and existence—with striking honesty and insight. Drawing resonant parallels between Shakespeare’s Denmark and our contemporary world\, they offer a vision of a more just and joyful imagined future.

SUMMARY:Jazz Ain't Boring
DESCRIPTION:Jazz Ain’t Boring is a live music experience that explores how jazz continues to shape modern sound and dance culture. Blending DJ sets with live band performance\, the program moves fluidly between classic jazz recordings\, contemporary interpretations\, and the hip-hop\, house\, and soul records they inspired. \nThroughout the evening\, DJs and musicians trade energy—moving from Miles Davis\, John Coltrane\, and Lou Donaldson into the records that sampled them\, from A Tribe Called Quest and Wu-Tang Clan to Mary J. Blige\, Kanye West\, and beyond. \nThe result is a dynamic listening and dance-floor experience that treats jazz not as museum music\, but as a living foundation for groove\, rhythm\, and celebration. \nCurated and hosted by #SampleSaleMusic members DJ Dottie Womack\, Reg Wyns\, Tai Allen\, Emanuel Ruffler\, and Ian Forde\, the program highlights jazz’s enduring influence while inviting the audience to move\, listen\, and connect across generations of sound.

SUMMARY:Theatre for a New Audience: The Tragedy of Coriolanus
DESCRIPTION:Who should lead in a land where the political rules are rapidly shifting and reordering\, class revolt is raging\, and basic food has become unaffordable? Is there a place for Coriolanus (McKinley Belcher III)\, a noble war hero and uncompromising aristocrat\, both admirable and detestable\, who refuses to hide his contempt for the newly empowered plebeian citizens? \nDirector Ash K. Tata stages Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Coriolanus incorporating live performance and a media-saturated landscape where the alienation of gaming violence and screen combat are contrasted with the intensity of IRL battles\, and the relationship of Volumnia (Roslyn Ruff) and her son Coriolanus gives human shape to the political drama.
