Join us on the Plaza at 300 Ashland Place for a guided listening session of Rest Within the Wake by multidisciplinary artist James Allister Sprang, presented as part of Stephanie Dinkins’ If We Don’t, Who Will: The Stories We Tell Our Machines, An Introduction. Sprang invites audiences to turn inwards while welcoming our bodies, our ancestors, our traumas, our pain, our longings, visions, and dreams.
Following the listening session, MoCADA will host a panel discussion with Stephanie Dinkins, James Allister Sprang, John Pasmore (founder of Latimer.ai), and Dr. Nettrice Gaskins (artist, STEAM educator, author) entitled Reclamation Rising: Building Black Digital Sovereignty. This lively conversation will engage with thought leaders who are crafting new pathways and technologies to create equity for Black and Brown people in cyberspace, AI and beyond, while reframing data collection as a mechanism to preserve our stories. Presented in partnership with Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and Two Trees.
