Check out HONK NYC’s trademark Kids’ Craft Table at Willoughby Walks. Make paper marching bands hats on-site and join the parade!
1:00PM - 1:45PM: Dingonek Street Band
Dingonek Street Band is a Brooklyn-based brass band dedicated to sonic adventure and the human condition. Built on the celebratory energy and raw spontaneity of the second-line brass band tradition, Dingonek has created a funky, high-energy party music all its own by absorbing and reworking elements of Afrobeat, Ethio-jazz, punk rock, free jazz, and Balkan brass music.
1:45PM - 2:30PM: Wollesonics, led by Kenny Wollesen
Fronted by percussionist Kenny Wollesen, Wollesonics is a marching band that plays anywhere & anytime. Wollesonics have been known to play on bridges, mountain tops, beaches, in elevators, on Grammy nominated records, on huge uptown stages & in dinky downtown clubs. Wollesonics is a spontaneous, organic, ephemeral pleasure-filled situation.
2:30PM - 3:15PM: Dawn Drake & Zapote
American bassist, conguera, and singer-songwriter Dawn Drake leads this worldbeat-meets-funk ensemble, which breaks down cultural barriers by incorporating everything from Afro-Cuban jazz to hip-hop to samba into a soul-shaking mix.
3:15PM - 4:00PM: Unintended Consequences
Unintended Consequences is a novelty busking band, playing the most eclectic set list of instrumental arrangements you’ve ever heard, since 2015. They play their “silly songs and catchy tunes” mostly in Washington Square Park, and as the House Band at SpoonfedNYC every other Tuesday night.
4:00PM - 5:00PM: Mariachi Real de Mexico
Mariachi Real De Mexico was founded in New York City in 1991 by Ramon Ponce, Sr and his son Ramon Ponce, Jr. Mariachi Real De Mexico is considered to be the most important and sought after Mariachi band in the East Coast of The United States. In 2002, the group established The Mariachi Academy of New York a non-profit organization devoted to teaching the music and tradition of mariachi for free in New York City.
