This historic event is organized by the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC) in partnership with Brooklyn Communities Collaborative (BCC), Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP).
This walk is more than a moment — it’s a movement. Together, we connect the fight for maternal health equity with Brooklyn’s long-standing legacy of justice, resistance, and liberation. Your presence will help amplify awareness, inspire action, and build momentum for change.
The day will begin on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall with powerful opening remarks from community leaders and advocates, spotlighting the urgent crisis of Black maternal health disparities.
We will embark on a symbolic walk through Downtown Brooklyn, culminating at Abolitionist Place—a historic landmark once central to the abolitionist movement and the Underground Railroad.
We’ll host a vibrant closing program featuring dynamic speakers, calls to action, and a Resource Activation Zone offering tools, services, and support for Black mothers, families, and the broader community. If you are interested in participating in the Resource Activation Zone of the Awareness Walk? RSVP.
