Who Tells the Future? Stephanie Dinkins and Idris Brewster on AI, Cultural Production, and Community Care

A Conversation on AI, Culture, and Collective Care

To mark the extension of If We Don’t, Who Will?, Stephanie Dinkins’ participatory public art installation presented by More Art, The Brooklyn Public Library invites you to a dynamic evening of reflection, dialogue, and collective contribution exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, Black cultural production, and community care.

Join BPL for a panel discussion featuring three thought leaders whose work challenges dominant narratives in technology and culture.

Dinkins will be joined by Idris Brewster, co-founder of Kinfolk Tech, a platform developing community-centered augmented reality experiences that surface Black and Brown histories in public space.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Nzinga Simmons, summer 2025 curatorial fellow at More Art, and Duke University PhD candidate researching the relationship between technology and Black cultural production.

The program will begin with a panel discussion, followed by an open Q&A with the audience. Afterward, attendees will be invited to visit Stephanie Dinkins’ installation at the Plaza at 300 Ashland Place, where Stephanie Dinkins will lead an interactive closing gesture –– the opportunity to contribute personal reflections, stories, and perspectives to the community dataset that powers If We Don’t, Who Will?.
