DBP was excited to partner with local design firm SO-IL to host the first event of a new series under the Make It in Brooklyn umbrella. The goal of the Make It in Brooklyn Design Socials is to strengthen connections between the design community of Downtown Brooklyn and hear about what work people are doing (and have some fun!).
Hosted by local design firms, the events are open to local design offices and other creatives (such as architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, developers, photographers, and fabricators), and feature site visits, talks, lunch get togethers, social events, and celebrations.
In February, DBP and SO-IL hosted a Lunar New Year get together at the office of SO-IL. Creatives gathered to enjoy food from Nan Xiang Express, beverages from Sixpoint Brewery, enjoy one another’s company, and catch up on what projects are being worked on.
Regina Myer, president of Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, and Jing Liu, principal at SO-IL welcomed the group that had gathered, which included principals and staff from design firms such as BIG, FXCollaborative, ARO, and WXY Design. Guests stayed on to party into the evening in celebration of Lunar New Year.
We look forward to many more sociable engagements in 2024!
