Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee, a beloved New York institution known for its commitment to organic, fair trade, shade-grown coffee, expanded its reach to Downtown Brooklyn a year ago. Founded in 2003 by Jack Mazzola, the company has spent two decades cultivating a reputation for quality brews and a strong sense of community.

The story behind Jack’s Coffee is one of passion and purpose. Mazzola, inspired by his travels around the world, recognized the positive impact that organic, fair-trade coffee could have on farming communities. This led him to bring the “crop to cup” concept to New York, ensuring that every sip of Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee supports sustainable practices and fair wages for farmers.

The company has grown beyond its original West Village location, operating two locations in the Hamptons in addition to Downtown Brooklyn, with an in-house bakery in Amagansett that produces their signature treats like vegan blackout donuts, apple cider doughnuts, and the famous “mighty muffin.”

The decision to open a location in Downtown Brooklyn was driven by a combination of customer demand, the area’s exciting growth, and a serendipitous opportunity. Many of Jack’s loyal patrons live or work in the neighborhood, making it a natural fit for expansion. The expansion came about while Jack’s was under construction at the MetLife building in Manhattan. Tishman Speyer, the property owner, was also developing 11 Hoyt Street and recognized the potential synergy. They offered Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee a spot in their new Downtown Brooklyn property, aligning perfectly with Jack’s vision to tap into the evolving landscape of Downtown Brooklyn.

“Downtown Brooklyn is on the cusp of something extraordinary,” says Mario Porrachio, Manager of Operations from Jack’s. “The neighborhood is vibrant, growing, and full of potential. We’re thrilled to be part of its renaissance and to grow alongside this dynamic community.”

Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee plans to distinguish itself in the competitive Brooklyn coffee scene by staying true to its roots. The company emphasizes a welcoming, family-like atmosphere where customers are known by name, not just a number. They’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality in their coffee and pastries, including vegan and gluten-free options.

In an exciting development, Jack’s Coffee is collaborating with Juice Press to bring their signature baked goods to more locations. This partnership, which began in the Hamptons with Jack’s carrying Juice Press products and vice versa, is set to expand. Plans are also underway to bring a Jack’s baker to Long Island City to recreate their popular pastries, making them more accessible to their Brooklyn and Manhattan customers.

Looking ahead, Jack’s Coffee aims to become an integral part of the Downtown Brooklyn community. They’re exploring partnerships, considering community events, and always looking for ways to give back. As Downtown Brooklyn continues to evolve, Jack’s Coffee is poised to become a neighborhood staple, offering not just a great cup of coffee, but a place where community connections can flourish.

With its unique blend of quality products, community focus, and exciting collaborations, Jack’s Coffee is set to make a significant impact on Downtown Brooklyn’s coffee scene, one cup at a time.
