Downtown Brooklyn Partnership’s Make It in Brooklyn Open Office Series introduces Downtown Brooklyn college students to the neighborhood’s dynamic innovation economy through conversations with founders of local  firms. If you are a student interested in tech startups and entrepreneurship and learning about the day-to-day life in a startup environment, sign up for the Open Office series. Open Offices visit include a presentation, Q+A, and tour of the space.

This year, we invite students to visit the following companies:

Vycarb – Tuesday, October 15th 1-2:30pm / RSVP
Vycarb is an innovative clean energy startup focusing on carbon capture technologies to combat climate change. Vycarb Founder, Garrett Boudinot, will share his experiences building a company from the ground up, and insights into what it really means to specialize in decarbonization

Blue Ridge Labs– Wednesday, October 16th 1-2:30pm / RSVP
Blue Ridge Labs is a social impact incubator that develops tech solutions to address poverty-related challenges in urban communities. They specialize in creating and supporting early-stage social tech ventures (both for-profit and nonprofit). Managing director, Sergio Marrero, will share his experience running the three core programs that center on impacting the lives of low-income New Yorkers.

Ninedot Energy – Thursday, October 17th 1-2:30pm / RSVP
Ninedot Energy is a forward-thinking energy solutions company specializing in smart grid technologies and renewable energy integration. They are known for their innovative approach to optimizing energy distribution and consumption in urban environments.

Makelab – Friday, October 18th 1-2:30pm / RSVP
Makelab is a creative 3D printing service that helps bring ideas to life, from prototypes to finished products. Co-founders Christina Perla and Manny Mota will share their experience and insights into what it really means to innovate in design and technology.

Open Offices are free to attend but you must RSVP to reserve your spot, as space is limited. Light lunch will be offered at each session.
