Downtown Brooklyn’s design community gathered to celebrate the first of many lovely warm weather days on FXCollaborative’s deck. In recognition of Earth Month, FXCollaborative showcased their impressive portfolio of projects that promote sustainability in architecture and the built environment.
The event brought together professionals from across the design spectrum, with colleagues joining from Architecture Research Office, MIG, and Pratt Institute, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and creativity.
Attendees enjoyed refreshments from local establishment Sound + Fury Brewery and Kitchen, featuring special edition cans designed in collaboration with FXCollaborative. The custom can design beautifully captured the intersection of design and commerce, adding a unique element to the gathering and highlighting the creative partnerships flourishing in the Downtown Brooklyn community.
DBP President Regina Myer and Toby Snyder, Design Director at FXCollaborative, welcomed attendees. Toby spoke about FXCollaborative’s commitment to environmental stewardship, emphasizing their belief in designers’ obligation to repair and restore the environment. He explained that their approach goes beyond simply reducing construction’s negative impacts, describing how they view each project as having its own unique ecosystem that should integrate with broader social and environmental missions.
Regina highlighted the significance of building stronger connections within Downtown Brooklyn’s design community, emphasizing the value of these gatherings in fostering innovation and collaboration in the neighborhood.
The Make It in Brooklyn Design Socials are a series of events designed to strengthen connections between the design community of Downtown Brooklyn. Hosted by local design firms, the events are open to local design tenants and other creatives and feature site visits, talks, lunch get togethers, social events, and celebrations.
As we plan for forthcoming Make It in Brooklyn Design Socials, we welcome the design community at large to join us for networking, learning, and inspiration.
