On a warm summer evening in Downtown Brooklyn, the design community came together for what has become a cornerstone of local creative networking. The latest Make It in Brooklyn Design Social, co-hosted at 15 Metrotech Center with MIG, a firm specializing in planning, designing, and sustaining environments that foster human development.

MIG opened their doors at the Spaces co-working facility to share their story with both familiar faces and newcomers to the design social scene. Jay Renkens, the firm’s Chief Practice Officer, welcomed attendees and spoke about MIG’s commitment to expanding their Brooklyn team.

The event brought together professionals from across the design + planning spectrum, with colleagues from ORG, Hatch, SO – IL, Sasaki, 3×3, and more. Regina Myer, president of Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, took a moment to reflect on the remarkable success of the Design Social series. Her observations about seeing returning attendees and fresh faces speak to the program’s dual achievement: building loyalty within the existing community while continuously expanding its reach.

True to the Make It in Brooklyn ethos, the event featured beverages from Sound + Fury Brewery and Kitchen, reinforcing the commitment to supporting local businesses.

The Make It in Brooklyn Design Social series is designed to strengthen connections within the design community of Downtown Brooklyn. Hosted by local design firms, the events are open to local design tenants and other creatives and feature site visits, talks, lunch get-togethers, social events, and celebrations.

As we plan for future Make It in Brooklyn Design Socials, we welcome the design community at large to join us for networking, learning, and inspiration.
