Tucked away in a corner space of Ace Hotel Downtown Brooklyn, an enchanting gift shop has made its home. Take Me With You is more than just a store—it’s a carefully curated space where Brooklyn’s artistic spirit is captured in tangible treasures you can take home.

Owner Casey Burry brings years of experience as an art and design curator to this eclectic boutique, which features handcrafted pieces from local artisans. Casey built the brand through various temporary spaces—which is where the name “Take Me With You” originated. After successful pop-ups on Atlantic Avenue and at Café Kitsune, Take Me With You found its permanent home at the Ace Hotel in November.

“I have been an art and design curator for many years,” Casey explains. “In these roles, I’ve invented small edition programs and retail concepts so people can access artists’ work at more accessible price points.”

A Showcase for Local Talent

The shop’s rotating installations spotlight New York artists and makers on a quarterly basis. Their grand opening featured a chef-turned-ceramicist from Argentina but now Brooklyn-based, who created playful limited-edition pieces including banana-shaped sconces and cucumber candle holders.

Other featured artists include, Yamila Diaz, another Brooklyn-based Argentinian artist, known for ceramic pieces adorned with 24K gold; Hannah Yu, who crafts jewelry from air-dry clay and heirloom gemstones; A.OK, a skincare line derived from avocado oil with hand-water colored packaging; Lina Sun Park, who creates ephemeral conceptual installations transformed into prints and merchandise.

More Than Just Shopping

Take Me With You goes beyond retail, offering workshops where customers can learn crafting techniques directly from the featured artists. In February, they welcomed Rue de Paradis, who creates custom lingerie, taking this collaborative spirit to new dimensions.

The shop also features special collaborations with local businesses, including a candy bag collaboration with o. and herbal tea creations with Rachelle Robinet.

Why Downtown Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn’s transformation over the past decade has created the perfect environment for a boutique like Take Me With You. Once primarily a commercial and civic center, the neighborhood has evolved into a vibrant cultural hub where creativity thrives alongside new residential developments and hospitality venues like the Ace Hotel Brooklyn.

The area’s unique blend of longtime Brooklynites and newcomers makes for an engaged community that values authenticity and craftsmanship. Its central location makes it accessible to visitors from across the city, while still maintaining the distinctive Brooklyn character that sets it apart from Manhattan’s retail scene.

For Casey, Downtown Brooklyn represents the ideal intersection of accessibility and authenticity—a place where both locals and visitors converge, creating the perfect audience for a shop that celebrates the borough’s creative spirit.

A Unique Approach

“We try to carry the obscure, the interesting, the independent, the unique—not something that’s in shops everywhere else,” Casey explains. This philosophy resonates with their clientele, which is split evenly between hotel guests and neighborhood locals.

Whether you’re a Brooklynite looking for locally made treasures or a visitor wanting to take home a piece of Brooklyn’s artistic heart, Take Me With You offers a shopping experience as unique as the borough itself.
